DIY Elastic Belt

It is hard for me to find an elastic belt that suit me.
Do you have a same feeling as me either they are too small or too big for you.

When I was in Malaysia and Singapore, most people can get one easily, but I can't bcoz I am too skinny. So before I came over USA, I did not get any I like. When I need a belt for my dress, I will tie a ribbon instead of using a belt. But I really want one. And again I search you tube and found Make your own Scrunchy Belt, it is pretty, right? The lady and the belt. But most of my dresses are with pattern, so I do not need a pattern belt. Then I search again and I saw a lady make a dress but  can not remember from which blog. She has a dress that without a waistline, so she immediately make a belt from elastic. She stitched the elastic together and made a circle like a loop. Then she just clip a fabric flower on the elastic that's all. Done in a minute or two. So I keep in mind.

A few days ago I went to Joanna Fabric and saw a Fashion Buckle which I found for a long time. Of course I grab one when I saw it and quickly find a match elastic, but I only get a white one which I hope I could have a black one. It's ok, better than I have non right?

a buckle and an elastic

find the length that you want and pin it

sew it with a machine or by hand

i sew 2 times for a better secure

trim the excess

hurray!!! I got a belt that suit me!!!
I am thinking of making a case for the belt from fabric that I want. This will be my guideline How to Make A Waist Belt With Interchangeable Colors

Please let me know if you have a better idea of how to make a good case or any other idea.
If this post inspire you to make one, please feel free to post a link of your work to share with me. :)

Thank you.

The 1st time buy Fat Quater

Joanna Fabric has moved to a new place in Wichita, which is closer to my place. So I went there with my hubby on Saturday, and I found what I want (Fashion Buckle + matched elastic = Belt) and the fabric fat quarters are on sale one for $.099 (Regular price $1.99). Then I told myself I got to get some for myself since I am new to this and I wanted to make a burp cloth for my friend and chopsticks wrap for my mother-in law and sister-in law. Then I have 6 of them. I am so happy that I can practice my sewing skill and make something. Due to I have no knowledge about fat quarters so I went online and search for it and I found this I Keep Hearing the Term "Fat Quarter" -- What Is a Fat Quarter? I have learned a lot from here. :) I am so happy that I have learn something new today.
